Meet the Team
STEPHANIE KOURY
Mom to George in grade 5 and Caterina in grade 3. Steph is a financial planner with National Bank in Kirkland since 2009. She LOVES to plan events and to be involved in her children's school life. So why not combine the two and be part of Home & School. In her spare time you can find her organizing work events or her Neighbors For Neighbors Food Drive.
SUZANNE ALT
Mother to Wil in grade 3 and Hannah in grade 1. Suzanne has been part of H&S for four years as Treasurer and Membership and two years as Co- President (busy lady!) Guess she really loves to be involved.
AMANDA WAGLAY
Amanda has been part of the SAJ family for four years now. She is the proud mother of Olivia in grade 4, Kaia in grade 2, and Aidan in K4. She is passionate about her teaching career. In her free time, she loves baking and cooking with her kids. She is eager to continue her involvement in H&S to help improve the Sherbrooke Academy community!
THERESA IRVING
Mom to Sophia in Grade 6. She has been a very active member of Home and School for 6 years. She is currently a Catering Manager and Social Butterfly! She enjoys baking so Tea Trolley for the Teachers is one of her favorite events! She is looking forward to meeting new parents and welcoming them to our Sherbrooke Academy Family!
ALANA BUIST EDWARDS
Alana has been a board member for 3 years now. She is the mother of Carter in grade 4 and Charley Ann in grade 3, as well as Cooper the rowdy 3 year old at Magic Circle. She is a stay at home mom, who up until recently, was the full time caregiver to her mother who has Alzheimers. In her free time, you can either find her in her home office working on events or planning for the upcoming Elves for Seniors (aka Santa To a Senior). You can find her on a softball field after the kids go to bed. She joined H&S so she could combine her two passions, her children and event planning.
What we do?
Sherbrooke Academy Home and School Association (SAHASA) is a volunteer parent association that serves both the Junior and Senior campuses.
Our goal is to continuously improve and develop the environmental, educational and cultural experience of the students and our school community. This is done through extracurricular activities, fundraising and support.
Our meetings take place once per month to get updates from principals, discuss events and spending, and share ways that we can support our schools, the staff and our children. These meetings also provide an open forum to channel the energy, efforts and suggestions of the wider parent resource. Even if you only have a bit of time, this is a great way to connect with other parents while working towards a common goal of enhancing and enriching our children’s school experience.
We are affiliated with the Quebec Federation of Home and School (QFHSA) and the Canadian Home and School Federation (CHSF). Our association is governed by elected or appointed volunteer parent representatives. We are a non-profit association and we need a minimum of 10% of our school families to become members.
The $20 membership fee is sent directly to QFHSA, without which we would not exist. Their website provides helpful resources and information. If you are already a member at another Home and School, you may purchase an associate membership for $3.00. Should you choose not to become a member, you can still attend meetings as a non-voting member!
